How phone number verification works when you sign up for Ikeono

Why we verify your business number, what you'll need, and how to get your website ready so your texting registration is approved.

Quick answer

Before you can text customers, carriers require us to verify that you control your business phone number. You'll get a 6-digit code in your support chat with us, then an automated call to your business number about 45 seconds later that asks you to enter it. Verification runs Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm Mountain Time, and you'll need to be able to answer your business phone.

Get your website ready first

Carriers also require links to your business's Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions as part of your texting registration.

  • Each one needs to be its own page on your website.

  • Link both pages at the bottom (footer) of your website.

  • Don't have them yet? Tell us in the support chat and we'll send you example templates you can adapt.

If these pages are missing, we'll ask you to add them before your registration can be submitted.

Verify your number

  1. Make sure you can answer your business phone right now.

  2. Start a support chat and say you're ready to verify (or use the link in your welcome email).

  3. We'll send you a 6-digit code in the chat.

  4. About 45 seconds later, you'll get an automated call to your business number. Enter the code when prompted.

If you start outside Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm Mountain Time, we'll complete verification on the next business day.

What happens next

Once your number is verified and your website pages are in place, we submit your registration. Approval currently takes about 3 business days, and can take 4–5 business days during busy periods like the holidays. As soon as your number is ready for texting, we'll email you to let you know.

Common questions

  • What should I enter for Federal EIN? For US businesses, we need your EIN and your legal business name as registered with the IRS. For Canadian businesses, we need your Canadian Business Number (BN) and the legal name associated with it.

  • Can I use a mobile number? No. Numbers from mobile carriers (like Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint) aren't eligible, and neither are Verizon One Talk or Google Voice numbers. If your number can't be hosted, we can provide a dedicated local texting number.
