Quick answer
When you move your business number to a new phone carrier, calls keep working with your new carrier, but texting through Ikeono stops until we rehost the number for messaging. Once your port is complete, start a support chat and we'll rehost it. Incoming texts start working as soon as the rehost is done. Outgoing texts follow once your number's carrier registration (TCR) is reassigned, which usually takes no more than 10–15 minutes.
Before you port
Check that we can work with your new carrier. We can't host numbers from mobile carriers (like Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint), and Verizon One Talk and Google Voice numbers aren't eligible either. Verizon One Talk works like VoIP but runs on Verizon's mobile network. Most business landline and VoIP carriers work (Comcast Business, for example). If you're not sure, ask us before you schedule the port.
Schedule the port for a Monday or Tuesday. Our support hours are Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm Mountain Time, so an early-week port means we're available to rehost your number right away.
After the port is complete
Start a support chat and tell us your number has been ported. Include your new carrier's name.
We'll email a Letter of Authorization to the email address on your account. Sign it and send it back.
We'll rehost your number for messaging. Incoming texts start working immediately.
Outgoing texts start once your number's carrier registration (TCR) is reassigned. This usually takes no more than 10–15 minutes.
How to tell your number needs rehosting
If texts fail with the error 4405 Rejected-unallocated-from-number, your number is no longer hosted for messaging with Ikeono. This almost always means it was recently ported. Start a support chat to have it rehosted. For other errors, see Common Error Codes and how to fix them.
